Free Open Clinic Day
After our Live Clinic in September, I came away thinking about how many important conversations we managed to open up in just one evening.
We talked honestly about confidence, uncertainty and looking after ourselves while supporting others. One therapist shared an experience of a client who became quite hostile towards him, which opened up a much wider conversation about how we respond when something completely unexpected happens in the treatment room. We also talked about the questions that come with experience, and how they don’t necessarily disappear simply because we have been practising for many years.
It reminded me how valuable it is simply to have a space where therapists can talk openly with one another. So, I’ve decided to open another of my Academy sessions to everyone.
Whether you are just beginning your career, have enough experience under your belt to be familiar with some of these situations, or are considering retraining as a therapist, you are very welcome to join me.

Beata talks with Olivia about exhaustion, self-doubt and the loneliness that can come with a people-focused profession, and why she is opening the Academy for one evening.
Our conversation in September touched on so many things that therapists experience but do not always have the opportunity to talk about openly.
This time, I’d like to continue some of those conversations and make the space for new ones too, including:
Those moments when you question yourself, don’t immediately know the answer, or find yourself dealing with a situation you weren’t expecting.
How we can be fully present for our clients while also recognising our own boundaries and what we need to sustain ourselves and our work.
The realities of working with people, navigating difficult or unexpected moments and continuing to learn through experience, reflection and conversation.
There will also be plenty of time to ask questions, share your own experiences or simply listen to the conversation.
I’ve been practising for more than 30 years and I’m still learning.
Our September Open Live Clinic was a lovely reminder that some of the most valuable learning happens when we simply make space to talk honestly with one another.
People brought real situations from their work, asked questions and shared experiences. Some were things I have encountered myself over the years, while others led our conversation somewhere I hadn’t expected it to go.
That is exactly why I want to do it again.
For me, becoming a better therapist has never been about having every answer. It is about staying curious, looking after yourself and continuing to learn.
That is one of the reasons I created The Academy, and why I want these conversations to continue.
We’ll start together, I’ll share some of my own experiences, and then I want to hear from you.
You can ask questions, respond in the chat, join the conversation or simply listen.
Towards the end, I’ll also share a little more about why I created
The Academy and how we are building a place for therapists to continue learning and supporting one another beyond formal training.
There is no pressure to speak. Come with a question, an experience you would like to share, or simply come to listen.
You are very welcome whether you are:
A practising therapist
Recently qualified
Currently training
Considering a career as a therapist
You do not need to prepare anything and there is no expectation to speak. Come with a question,
an experience you would like to share, or simply come to listen.
When you register, you can also tell me if there is something you would particularly like us to talk about.
It could be something you are unsure about in your practice, something you have found challenging, or simply something you would value another therapist’s perspective on.
And if you are not yet a therapist, your questions are just as welcome! You might want to know what the work is really like, what training can and cannot prepare you for, or what I wish I had known when I was starting out.
I’ll use these questions to help shape our conversation.
I believe this can be a useful, open and
supportive evening together.
If that sounds like something you would value,
I’d love you to join us.
